FloodSafe USA implements a variety of flood barriers in floodproofing projects, according to the client needs and budget. We maintain close relationships with FloodBreak and PS Doors to deliver high quality barriers in a reasonable timeframe. The supply and installation of such barriers provides a turnkey service to the client without the hassle of coordinating with multiple suppliers and contractors. Here is more detail on the flood barriers we have installed:
FloodBreak’s automatic flood gate is the flood barrier installed at Braeburn Country Club in Houston, Texas. The project site already had a partial flood wall in place, so in addition to extending the flood wall to better protect the property building, we installed an automatic flood gate at the walkway. The automatic flood gate is designed to provide automatic protection in the event of unplanned flooded, but can also be locked in the upright position prior to a planned flood event to minimize seepage that occurs during deployment.
The automatic flood gate is depicted below in the closed position and a second photo shows the locked, upright position. The gate is designed to automatically deploy, if flash floods occur without notice. The gate was locked in the upright position in preparation for Hurricane Harvey (2017) and the photo below shows it holding back 4 feet of water. As an additional safety measure, a flood door is installed at the entryway located at the bottom of the stairway to prevent water intrusion in the event that the gate malfunctions or has a delayed deployment.
We also work closely with PS Doors to supply clients with flood barriers like the ones shown below to prevent water intrusion through doorways. The standard sized EZ Dam and custom sized Flood Plank are commonly used when the client prefers to keep their existing doors, rather than replacing them with flood doors. Both units are active barriers, meaning they require setup prior to a flood to minimize water intrusion. Seepage is expected and should be planned for when using these units.
