Chief Operations Officer
Daughter to CEO Ron Helton, she was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas before the family moved to the mission field in the capital city of Moldova. Her teenage years were spent serving side-by-side with parents in the small country struggling to survive the fall of the Soviet Union. She met and married her husband there and they relocated back to her hometown of San Antonio. They have three amazing kids: a teenage son and two toddlers.
Tamara brings a wide range of experience to the family company gleaned from her years on the mission field and her eight years of running a veterinary hospital. “Customer service is extremely important to me,” she says. “I want clients to understand the value of our services and know exactly what to expect rather than taking a blind leap of faith.” She explains that running a high-end veterinary hospital requires excellent customer service to match the high-quality medical care their pet is receiving. She applies this same principle to the field of flood proofing. In an industry that is completely new and largely unknown across the U.S. and internationally, Tamara aims to educate clients to produce informed consent rather than asking her clients to simply trust that the system works. Likewise, her positive attitude and organizational skills have bonded her to clients from the very beginning.
Tamara is excited to see just how far she can push FloodSafe USA in the coming years. “Considering that 80% of flooding in the U.S. alone is residential or small commercial buildings, there are a lot of people who need our help. We are the only comprehensive flood proofing company in the U.S. with a proven system developed specifically for these 80%, so I have my work cut out for me.” Tamara’s drive and optimism are not to be trifled with, however. She has a passion to help people, engrained from many years of mission work. A godly vision to meet the need. A total solution to flooding. And determination to carry out her goals.
Wife of CEO Ron Helton, she is mother of three and a grandmother many times over, but more importantly, I think she would say she is the daughter of our Heavenly King. Dorcas lives out her faith practically and consistently, and seeks to help others do the same. Her joyful spirit uplifts and encourages all who encounter her. She is quick to smile and laugh, and eager to help anyone in need. Besides the ten years spent on the mission field in the former Soviet Union, she was raised on the mission field in Guadalajara, Mexico. Her first language is Spanish, but she is fluent in English and Russian as well.
Her fine attention to detail and organizational skills make her the perfect business administrator. She works in the home office in Conroe with Ron and keeps him running on schedule while working closely with Tamara in San Antonio. She coordinates work between Ron and Tamara and ensures technical details of the business run smoothly. She is an invaluable member of the team.
